If you've been following our journey growing 600 Australian native seedlings with Trees For Life (SA) this year, here's a little update on where they are now.
Recently, our 600 Australian native seedlings (or "tree babies" as we've affectionately called them throughout the growing process!) made the journey from the city to the countryside when they were collected by the landholder and carefully transported on the back of a ute to their new home.
The landholder has since shared some photos showing where many of the seedlings have already been planted. While the recent rains have delayed the planting of some, those already in the ground will be loving the moisture and settling in beautifully.
These trees are being planted to create a windbreak and provide shade for livestock, helping both the land and the cattle. Looking at the photos, all we could think was... what a view these trees are going to have as they grow!
In years to come, they'll provide much more than shade. They'll help create habitat for birds and native wildlife, offer shelter and food sources for countless species, improve biodiversity, absorb carbon dioxide and release oxygen back into the environment.
It's amazing to think that something that started as tiny seeds in trays can go on to make such a positive impact on the landscape.
If you've enjoyed following our 600-seedling journey this year, why not consider becoming a grower with Trees for Life SA? You don't need to grow 600 seedlings! Each box contains around 60 seedlings, allowing you to choose a number that suits your space and capacity or make it a business team building project?
A huge thank you to Trees for Life SA for making programs like this possible. We've loved being involved once again this year and can't wait to watch these seedlings grow and thrive.
