Eco Style Tuesday – Nature in the City

Today while travelling through Adelaide’s CBD, something made me pause…
A magnificent deciduous tree, standing tall and bare in its winter glory, with a very visible hollow in its trunk. I turned around, curious — and discovered another nearby tree with a similar hollow.
These tree hollows are more than just natural curiosities — they’re vital homes for many of our native friends. In urban areas, they provide shelter and nesting spaces for:
Tawny Frogmouths & Boobook Owls
Parrots & Lorikeets
Microbats
Kookaburras
Geckos & Lizards
Huntsman Spiders
Possums – you might even spot one at dusk!
It’s a beautiful reminder that even in the heart of the city, nature continues to thrive when we allow it space.
This open green space, framed by stunning old oaks and now bare deciduous trees, is a quiet pocket of peace — perfect for sitting, listening to the birds, watching the seasons change, and reconnecting with the environment.
I also passed a business with a glorious native grevillea blooming in a pot — a bold splash of colour amidst the winter tones. Nature finds a way to brighten every corner.
We’re proud to be an environmentally conscious, award-winning South Australian business that sees and celebrates these things — in our work, our travel, and our everyday life.
Come and explore the beauty of South Australia. Stay in one of our homes away from home — where we honour nature, care for the environment, and offer you space to reconnect.
