This week — 11 December 2025 — we begin planting our very first species of Australian natives for this year’s growing season with Trees for Life SA… and we’re starting with a beauty:
Leptospermum lanigerum – the Woolly Tea-Tree
Soft, silver-green foliage, delicate white flowers, and a natural love for damp gullies and creek lines — this gorgeous Australian native is a favourite for wildlife.
It provides food and shelter for birds, insects and small animals, stabilises soil, and brings a calming, almost misty texture to the landscape. Its flowers are loved by pollinators, especially native bees.
We can’t wait to plant these tiny seeds into their tubes this week and watch them transform into healthy seedlings ready for their new home near Second Valley, supporting a wonderful landholder and helping restore the natural environment.
This is just the beginning — we have four native species to grow this season, and our next species will be sown on 29 December 2025.
Stay tuned as we share each step of nurturing 600 Australian native seedlings — from seed to soil to country.
