Spring is in the air and if you are looking for a memorable day out and enjoy a bit of history. Book yourself a day trip on the fabulous #SteamRanger Train which travels from beautiful #MountBarker to the glorious seaside town of #VictorHarbor.
This is a full day trip departing from Mount Barker Train Station on the First and Third Sunday at 10am during June-November and arriving back at Mount Barker station at approximately 6pm.
During the day you will get the opportunity to wave to locals and visitors enjoying the steam train move along the tracks. Stopping at #Strathalybn train station (where you may be lucky to see someone playing the bagpipes) and then onto #Goolwa, where you can get off and explore the great country hospitality and/or stay on and travel to Victor Harbor on #TheCockleTrain which operates year-round between Goolwa and Victor Harbor.
If you stop at Goolwa and wait for the train to travel back to Mount Barker there is approximately 3 hours to explore the wonderful #GoolwaMarkets. Enjoy your favourate pastries in the wonderful country bakeries in Goolwa and/or dine in one of their nice cafe's along their main street. Enjoy the scenic wharf area with a lovely #FleurieuDistillery, #Gintonica to explore and sit for a while and enjoy a local wine or beer at the #90MileWines: #WharfBarrelShed right on the waters edge.
Then time to get back on the train and travel back to Mount Barker, where you will see the sunset, plenty of kangaroos and enjoy the ambience of yesteryear on this wonderful historical train. There is also tea/coffee etc available to purchase on the train trip and plenty of treats for the children.
