If you’re exploring South Australia during this month’s History Festival, make sure you allow time to wander through the streets of historic Port Adelaide and discover its incredible outdoor art gallery.
This beautiful mural, known as “The Love Birds”, was created by artists Charles and Janine Williams as part of the Wonderwalls street art movement that helped transform Port Adelaide into one of Australia’s most colourful street art destinations. Featuring two Australian fairy-wrens connected by a flowing ribbon forming a heart, the artwork is a striking reminder of connection, community and creativity.
One of the things we love most about Port Adelaide is how history, heritage, culture and modern creativity all come together in one place. Around almost every corner you’ll discover another mural, historic building, museum, gallery, café or waterfront view waiting to be explored.
Did you know? Visitors staying in one of our homes close to the city at Adelaide Style Accommodation — can easily catch the train directly into the heart of Port Adelaide, making it a fantastic day trip during History Festival season.
Love exploring by bike? Guests staying in our homes can securely store bikes in our garages, take their bikes on the train and enjoy riding around Port Adelaide while discovering its fascinating history, waterfront spaces and colourful street art trail — or hire a bike locally from the Port Adelaide Visitor Information Centre.
