In the quiet of evening, a koala walks slowly along the footpath… Not lost. But searching. Searching for familiar trees. A safe hollow. A place to belong. Koalas are nocturnal mammals, and like all mammals, they give birth to tiny, underdeveloped young called joeys. After birth, the joey instinctively climbs into its mother’s pouch, where it continues to grow safely for around six months.
